Product Spotlight: The Cicily Tote

Like many of you, I usually lean towards carrying a large and roomy handbag. But sometimes you need something a bit more compact. Enter the Cicily Tote.

The Cicily Tote is the perfect size. It is compact, but large enough to hold all the essentials. The interior features a zippered pocket that is perfect for holding your lipstick, compact and perfume. As with all Maggie Bags, it is lined with our signature purple satin lining. While it is extremely versatile, here are my four favorite ways to use the Cicily Tote:

  3. Downtown/urban exploration. The straps offer a 7.5″ drop, making this easily carried either as a shoulder bag, or in hand. This shorter strap length also makes it easy to ensure that you alone have access to the bag’s contents.
  4. As an alternative to a clutch. We all love the look and simplicity of a clutch. The one down side? You have to carry it around in your hand all night! It’s easy to sit it down and forget, or otherwise lose your bag, thereby losing your keys, credit cards, and a plethora of other things.

Organic Food on a Budget

Organic food has become a big deal in the past few years, and there’s a good reason for that. The problem with organic food is that it can get so expensive! Which is why I’m sharing my top tips for buying organic food on a budget.

Organic Food is the Best Food

Organic food is the best food. It’s free of pesticides, antibiotics, growth hormones, and a host of other things that are horrible for us. When I made the switch to organic food, I felt a change within a couple of weeks. It makes sense, really. If you put terrible things into your body, you’ll FEEL terrible. Besides my improved health, the other thing I noticed was the drain on my wallet. Organic food is EXPENSIVE! So I set out to find a way to eat healthy organic food without breaking the bank.

Buy in Bulk

A great way to save on organic food is to buy in bulk. Buying in bulk will ALWAYS save you money. There’s one big thing to remember when buying in bulk….organic food has no preservatives, so it doesn’t last as long. If you buy in bulk the freezer is your friend.

Coupons, Coupons, Coupons

Of course, there are no coupons for produce or meats (usually). However, there are coupons for organic food like rice, beans, pasta, and the like. If you’re going all the way with organics, coupons are the way to go. They’ll save you A TON of money. Quick tip: If you have more than one coupon with a limit on the number of items that you can buy, use the self-checkout lane. Separate those items into two (or more) orders. You’ve got your coupon goodness!

Coupon and Sale Apps

While similar to coupons, coupon and sale apps for your smart phone are just a little different. These apps generally involve certain stores or brands. I use these apps to help me more easily find any organic food coupons or deals I may have missed. While I haven’t seen a lot of offers on these apps, I have seen some. And with the popularity of organic food on the rise, coupon and sale apps are two tools to keep an eye on. I predict more savings in the future.

House Brands

When stores finally jumped on the bandwagon and started making house brand organic food, I was thrilled. I thoroughly checked the labels, and it was true. 100% organic, AND cheap. I was in heaven. Always, ALWAYS check for house brands on organic food such as rice, beans, pasta, and snacks. You’ll almost always find a deal.

I’ve got a pretty good system for getting my organic food on the cheap, but I’m always looking for even more ways to save. How do you save on organic food?
