This delicious recipe is super-easy to make! My husband absolutely loves these and said that I should add them to my regular repertoire. I don't know about that, since I rarely make sweets, but it freezes well and could be made ahead of time. I like to freeze in portion sizes so that I don't have a big pan of blondies staring at me for days.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup (1-1/2 sticks) butter or margarine
  • 3/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2  eggs + 1 egg white
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1-3/4 cups (11-oz. pkg.) butterscotch chips
  • 1 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips (about half a bag)
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Directions

1.    Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease 13x9x2-inch baking pan.

2.    Beat butter, brown sugar and granulated sugar in large bowl until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add this to butter mixture, beating until well blended.

3.    Stir in butterscotch chips, chocolate chips and nuts, if desired. Spread in prepared pan.

4.    Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until top is golden brown and center is set. Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Cut into bars. Makes 24 to 36 bars.

Blondies are a great dessert a little off the common brownie path. So which do you like better, blondies or brownies?
